Sandra Bishop-Josef directs the Zigler Center’s training program. Her primary research interests are in the areas of child abuse and neglect, childhood intervention programs, and the application of research to social policy. With colleagues at Massachusetts General Hospital, she has been tracking cases of child maltreatment adjudicated in the Boston Juvenile Court over the past 15 years. Information gained from this research has been used to develop state legislation and court policy. Bishop-Josef is also interested in early childhood intervention programs and other services children receive. She is Co-Chair of the Working Group on Children’s Rights at Yale’s Interdisciplinary Center on Bioethics. Bishop-Josef also co-directs the Zigler Center’s Child Welfare Unit.
