Jean Adnopoz coordinates In-Home Services at the Yale Child Study Center. She has developed intervention and treatment models that provide home-based services for children and families affected by abuse or neglect, parental substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, homelessness and chronic mental illness. These models represent the translation of constructs, theories, and research findings into practice in the real world in which the internal capacities of children and families may be overwhelmed by external pressures resulting in the derailment of normal development and the emergence of potentially crippling psychopathology. The primary goals of the models are maintenance of children within their own families, stability and safety. Among these programs are The Yale Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Service (IICAPS), The Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Reintegrative Service, (IICARS), The Coordinated Intervention for Women and Children (CIWI) and Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) IICARS serves children and adolescents returning from residential or institutional care to biological and foster families, CIWI works with pregnant and parenting women who use controlled substances, while IFP provides treatment and support to families reported to the child welfare system for child abuse or neglect.
